Okay as we have informed for the chill out, not alot of people replied us, in fact only minority replied us of whether are they going, so as it's not going to work if only a few people are coming, therefore.

We have decided to cancel it due to seriously low attendance coming.

We apologise, but then again, we do hope you all can really participate actively in this kind of activites to bond with each other. We have really planned it, but alot of youall seem not to care. Okay so anyway, back to the point.

Okay hmm, let's start with a more harsh tone yeah.

so well, the previous meeting had really bad attendance.We were really expecting much more people. I do hope all of you treats this alumni group seriously, and don't think that it's all just for fun and everything. You need to give in commitment, if you're here to stay just for the fun of it, You might want to consider again. Everyone's participation is the only way to keep this going, if we keep receiving this kind of attendance etc, it's not really that good.

On a lighter note, I do know that the news might be a little late to you all,maybe you all didnt know there's a meeting, we do apologise for this, and we'll improve on it.

Well. since everyone makes mistakes, we'll take that meeting as just a lesson. And i hope to never see such poor attendance again.

Well okay, i'll be posting up about those who made that effort to come for the meeting and gladly, we've actually made up a few plans for the upcoming holiday etc to make it more enjoyable and fun for you.

So around the 3rd week of the holidays, there'd be a chill out activity as well as the farewell (to sec 4s 'temp' ) and dedication to others. please be reminded that the Chill out is solely a NON-OFFICIAL ALUMNI PROGRAMME yeah. Please do not ask the school for any matters already for ths programme.

Also, another thing, is that all the batch 09 ( which are the sec1s now ) , you all are not p6 pupils anymore, you've grown up and are sec1s now, you're supposed to help out in activities and do the best as a alumni student in evg. It's time to grow and learn more, so after the chill out , farewell & dedication, ALL OF US will work together as one to organise things. We believe we have shown you all what is it like to be part of the group, and how to work.

FOR BATCH 09, SEC 1s IN 2010:

there'll be a meeting this coming saturday,5th june, from 10am to 11.30 pm. Please be reminded that no slippers are allowed and please be punctual.Please bring writing materials. We will be informing you all about a few things to keep you updated.Points will be deducted from your consortium if you failed to do so.

FOR ACTIVE ALUMNI MEMBERS ,:

Please do come at 9.30 -9.45 to make sure everything is ready to convey the message to them, and similarly, please have proper footwear, no slippers are allowed. Bring notebooks to take down notes. Anything please sms xuteng, siangqin and me or the others.

FOR EXCO PEOPLE :

It's just a reminder. You'd probably have known. Please come at 9. 9 is the lastest, please please for the umpteen time please do not be late as we have a lot of things to settle and time is not to be wasted. We'll need to bring the things similarly to all active alumni members. Anything else we'll keep you informed. Please be puncutal, thank you.

Please be reminded to come at the time you're supposed to come! We'll be expecting more people compared to the previous attendance. Take note of the timings again, please don't come at the wrong time, we believe as a member of the alumni , you're able to do this kind of things correctly. ;D

Okay, sorry for the dead blog and everything, But yeah so now as the MYEs are coming real soon, we have decided to make study groups for you all to ask questions to clear your doubts and everything.

so the study group will start from this coming week onwards, until MYEs are over.

There will be a few study groups.

1- Jelyn-

Everyday : Night – 7pm to 9pm.

Friday Afternoon 2.30 onwards.

2- Siang Qin –

Everyday : Night 7pm to 9pm.

Thursday afternoon 3.30 onwards.

3- Xuteng-

Monday,Thursday : Evening 4.30pm to 7pm.

Wednesday: 5.30 to 7pm.

4- Hiu wai-

Wednesday : Afternoon 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

Friday: 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

Need to sms us your name, what time, what consortium you are in and give advance notice before that day itself.

There are other alumni members who are free, you can ask them too. But please do tell us in advance so that it would not be so rushed. Please do not take this study group lightly, and do not fool around. Please sms us and not be chaotic. Uniforms can be worn.

Also, we will be revealing the winner of the pass making competition! the winner would not only get to win points for their consortium and also they have individual prizes!

On top of that, i'm sure you all have been keep trying to ask whether is there a meeting. But when we send sms-es, you all do not reply. Please do try to use your phone. Also, we will be blogging the timings up, so please look and not spam us with questions.

Hello! Im gonna share with you a story about Abraham Lincoln!

We rarely find examples of constant persistence for success, like those of Abraham Lincoln. If anyone wants the inspiration of how many efforts a human can make, here’s his life sketch.

Born in poverty, he had to face defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business, suffered nervous breakdown and was bedridden for six months. He could have quit many times, but he didn’t quit and became one of the greatest presidents in America.

Here is a sketch of Lincoln’s road to White House:

-His family was forced out of their home AND He had to work to support them
-His mother died
-Failed in business
-Ran for State legislature –lost
-Also lost his job-wanted to go to law school but couldn’t get in.
-Borrowed some money from a friend to begin a business and by the end of the year
-He was bankrupt and spent the next 17 years of his life paying off this debt.
-Ran for state legislature again—won
-Was engaged to be married, sweetheart died and his heart was broken
-Had a total nervous breakdown and was in bed for six months
-Sought to become speaker of the state legislature – defeated.
-Sought to become elector – defeated
-Ran for Congress –lost
-Ran for Congress again – this time he won-went to Washington and did a good job
-Ran for re-election to Congress-lost
-Sought the job of land officer in his home state-rejected
-Ran for Senate of the United States-lost
-Sought the Vice Presidential nomination at his party’s national convention – got less than 100 votes
-Ran for U.S. Senate again- again he lost *

Mahatma Gandhi

Hello all! I have a short inspiring story about Mahatma Ghandi to share. :D

Mahatma Gandhi went from city to city, village to village collecting funds for the Charkha Sangh. During one of his tours he addressed a meeting in Orissa. After his speech a poor old woman got up. She was bent with age, her hair was grey and her clothes were in tatters. The volunteers tried to stop her, but she fought her way to the place where Gandhiji was sitting. "I must see him," she insisted and going up to Gandhiji touched his feet. Then from the folds of her sari she brought out a copper coin and placed it at his feet. Gandhiji picked up the copper coin and put it away carefully. The Charkha Sangh funds were under the charge of Jamnalal Bajaj. He asked Gandhiji for the coin but Gandhiji refused. "I keep cheques worth thousands of rupees for the Charkha Sangh," Jamnalal Bajaj said laughingly "yet you won't trust me with a copper coin." "This copper coin is worth much more than those thousands," Gandhiji said. "If a man has several lakhs and he gives away a thousand or two, it doesn't mean much. But this coin was perhaps all that the poor woman possessed. She gave me all she had. That was very generous of her. What a great sacrifice she made. That is why I value this copper coin more than a crore of rupees."

Alexander The Great

Hello. Just wanna share this meaningful story that I read. Please enjoy it :)

The Great Greek King , Alexander, after conquering many kingdoms, was returning home. On the way,, he fell ill and he was bedridden for months. With death drawing closer, Alexander realised how his conquests, his great army, his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no use.

He called his generals and said, " I will depart from this world soon. But I have three wishes. Please fulfill my wishes without fail. " With tears flowing down their cheeks, the generals agree and abide by their king's last wishes.

" My first desire is that, " said Alexander, " my physician alone must carry my coffin. " Secondly, when my coffin is being carried to the grave, the path leading to the graveyard should be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones which I have collected in my treasury. My third and last wish is that both my hands should be kept dangling out of my coffin. " The people who had gathered there wondered at the king's strange wishes. But no one dared to question. Alexander's favourite general kissed his hand and pressed them to his heart. " O king, we assure you that your wishes will be fulfilled. But tell us why do you make such strange wishes? "

At this, Alexander took a deep breath and said, " I would like the world to know of the three lessons I have just learnt. I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realise that no doctors can really cure anybody. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for granted.

The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the way to the graveyard is to tell people that not even a fraction of gold can be taken by me. Let people realise that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.

And about my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I want people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty handed I go out of this world.

Alexander's last words: " Bury my body, do not build and monument, keep my hands outside so that the world knows that the person who won the world had nothing in his hands when dying. "

It is simply because we are invited by Dr. Chua to a 'Soirée 2010' Harmonica Orchestra concert which is proudly presented by NUS Centre For The Arts. There are only 26 free tickets in total - 15 $15 (Circle Seat) tickets and 6 $12 (Stall Seat) tickets.

Biography:

Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) served as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He successfully led his country through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War, preserving the Union and ending slavery. Before his election in 1860 as the first Republican president, Lincoln had been a country lawyer, an Illinois state legislator, a member of the United States House of Representatives, and twice an unsuccessful candidate for election to the U.S. Senate. As an outspoken opponent of the expansion of slavery in the United States,^[1]^[2] Lincoln won the Republican Party nomination in 1860 and was elected president later that year. His tenure in office was occupied primarily with the defeat of the secessionist Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. He introduced measures that resulted in the abolition of slavery, issuing his Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and promoting the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Six days after the large-scale surrender of Confederate forces under General Robert E. Lee, Lincoln became the first American president to be assassinated.

Even with these opponents, Lincoln successfully rallied public opinion through his rhetoric and speeches; his Gettysburg Address (1863) became an iconic symbol of the nation's duty. At the close of the war, Lincoln held a moderate view of Reconstruction, seeking to speedily reunite the nation through a policy of generous reconciliation. Lincoln has consistently been ranked by scholars as one of the greatest of all U.S. Presidents.

Alexander III of Macedon (356–323 BC), popularly known as Alexander the Great was a Greek king of Macedon.
He is the most celebrated member of the Argead Dynasty and created one of the largest empire in ancient history.
He was born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander succeeded his father's throne in 336 BC after the king was assassinated, and he died thirteen years later at the age of 32.
Alexander is one of the most famous figures of antiquity, and is remembered for his tactical ability, his conquests, and for spreading Greek civilization into the East.

During his youth, Alexander showed great observational powers when he tamed the wild horse Bucephalus.

One legend about Alexander the Great is that when he was in Gordium, Turkey, he undid the Gordian Knot.
This knot was said to be tied by the legendary, wealthy King Midas. The prophecy about the Gordian knot was that the person who untied it would rule all of Asia.
Alexander is said to have undone the Gordian knot not by unraveling it, but by slashing through it with a sword.

Okay hello again. I'm posting about the leader, Mahatma Gandhi.

So that's him. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948), commonly known as Mahatma Gandhi, was an Indian revolutionary religious leader who used his religious power for political and social reform. Although he held no governmental office, he was the prime mover in the struggle for India's independence. Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, a seacoast town north of Bombay. His wealthy family was of the Vaisya, or merchant, caste. He was the fourth child of Karamchand Gandhi, prime minister to the raja of three small city-states.

Revered in India as the "Father of the Nation," Mohandas K. Gandhi is also a worldwide icon of non-violent political resistance. Gandhi was born in India and studied law in England, then spent 20 years defending the rights of immigrants in South Africa. He returned to India in 1914, eventually becoming the leader of the Indian National Congress. At the time, India was part of the British Empire, and Gandhi urged non-violence and civil disobedience as a means to independence. His public acts of defiance landed him in jail many times as the struggle continued through World War II. In 1947 he participated in the postwar negotiations with Britain that led to Indian independence.

An advocate of simple living, Gandhi ate a vegetarian diet and made his own clothes; the spinning wheel became a symbol of his uncluttered lifestyle. His autobiography, The Story of My Experiments With Truth, was published in 1927. His birthday, October 2nd, is a national holiday in India.

Gandhi is often called Mahatma, the Hindu term for "great soul". Mohandas was married at thirteen by parental arrangement to a girl his own age, Kasturbai Makhanji in 1883. They had five children and remained married for nearly 61 years, until her death in 1944. Among his many famous quotes is the saying, "An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind".

Since 1934, there had been five unsuccessful attempts to kill Gandhi. On January 30 1948, as he was attending prayers, he was shot shot thrice in his chest at point-blank range, and killed by Nathuram Godse, a 35-year old editor of a Hindu Mahasabha extremist weekly in Poona. It was heard that his last words were "Oh... oh... oh..." as he fell.

He was a great leader.

Hello!

Yesterday was the last meeting of Jan. People are getting busier, but nevertheless, many had turned up. Whoo! :D

We were divided into our committees and had successful discussions. We had come up with a timeline for Feb, plans on study groups and Valentines Day, and the Programme Committee had came up with the programmes for next Saturday's meeting. Claps! Hiuwai also suggested the angel-mortal thing for us to communicate with our 2009 batch. The suggestion was great and I believe it would work out really well.

Next week we will be welcoming our new juniors! So it would be great if everybody could attend the meeting. We would need loads of manpower on that day. So, yeah, please try to come. :D

Work is piling up for everybody, so please take care eh.

Once again, thanks for the birthday wishes! :) AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY YEN LING!

Today's meeting was fruitful once again. A big round of applause to Jelyn for being a great facilitator of today's meeting!

Moving on, let me give you a bit of description of what's going to happen next week! Basically, our dearest batch 2009 active alumni members who have signed up in the AAG's database are going to attend our very first Feb meeting! As usual, there will be a heap of exciting activities planned for all of us again! Thank you Programme Committee!

Therefore, please note the following with regards to the next meeting:

Time: 10.30 - 12.30pm
Venue: Library OR Everkidz (To be confirmed)
Meeting point: Canteen

What to wear: Top, Bottoms (Preferably 3/4 pants), Shoes (Strictly no slippers, flip-flops and heels unless with valid reasons)

What to bring: Your very own alumni notebook, foolscape, writing materials, Ignite Spirits Camp Programme Particulars of Batch 2009 (Only apply to Batch 2006 - 2008 alumni members)

Expecting attendance: 63 of batch 2009 alumni members, 20 active alumni members

Hey AAG,

Today was the third meeting in 2010, hope you guys are doing well.

Today's meeting was about the plannings for Total Defence and Sec1 alumni. We only manage to take down some rough ideas of wad are we going to organise and some programmes. Do feel free to voice out your ideas if you think it is constructive!

The attendance wasn't really good today, i seriously hope more would attend for next week's meeting. More people equals to more ideas right?

Today's meetng ended quite early, remember to write your reflections for today and think about the programmes we could organise. I'm looking forward to next week's meeting with more familiar faces. :D

Hey people!

It's the second week in school, do remember to study hard and play hard as well!

Today's meeting was about 2010 plans for Evergreen Active Alumni Group. Everyone gave in ideas on what are the possible activities(graduation day camp, sports carnival etc.) that we can plan out for the Active Alumni Group. I hope these activities can be carry out so that all of us can learn something while contributing to Evergreen Primary School at the same time.

As what kexin said on the importance of attendance, it is really important because we do hope that everyone can turn up to give in your best and more in areas that you can. Do try to place the meeting on Saturday your first priority alright? Try to encourage more alumni to come back to serve as well.

I'm really happy that today's meeting ended well and everyone left with a smile on their faces. I'm looking forward to the next meeting on 23 Jan, hope to see each and everyone of you! Do remember to bring the materials kexin wrote in the previous post.

How has school been for you? How are you coping?

Today's meeting was fruitful. I'm very happy to see all of you starting to voice out more! Keep it up! Do remember that it's also time for you to magnify your potential! Do take this week to think about what you can do as an Active Alumni member and what we can contribute to our Alma Mater as as a team. All the way! :)

Once again, I thank each of your presence today. Remember, everyone counts. Your presence will make a difference in every meeting. I sincerely hope that everyone has learnt something after each meeting [especially the quote sharing] and more active alumni members are able to turn up for each and every meeting we have.

In addition, besides Welfare Committee and Programme Committee posting about what they have learnt and done respectively, this blog welcomes everyone's feedback in regardless of any areas! Dear all,

After today's meeting on the leadership structure, I hope all of you have learnt something new and are clear of what to do in each consortium and committee in a long run. To those who could not make it for this meeting, do read the previous post for more details. Should you have any doubts, please clarify with me or your consortium leaders.

Please note that there will be a meeting held on 16 January 2010 from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the Grandstand. It is our second meeting of the year and I hope to see better attendance this time round. Please spread this message around!

Your attendance is important as all of us need to sit down and discuss about the structure and future plans for the Active Alumni Group with almost full strength. Do inform me or your consortium leaders should you have any problems of your presence on the next meeting, latest by 14 January 2010, 12pm via call, sms or email. If not, we will be expecting to see your lovely face :)

2010 First Meeting

Today's meeting we reviewed on the alumni's leadership structure.

Basically, we discussed 2 structures today: Consortium and Committee.

Consortium

Consortium is known as division in Active Alumni group. There are 3 consortiums in total which are named after a famous leader: Alexander the Great, Lincoln Abraham, Mahatma Ghandi. Each consortium have its own motto, vision and mission. The purpose of this structure is to enable the Active Alumni Group members to be comfortable in sharing their thoughts and problems, joy and challenges that they faced during meetings.

Committee

There are a total of 3 committees: Logistics, Programme and Welfare. Active Alumni members will only be broken down to committees when there is a big event, for example, camps/ programmes. Each committee will likewise decide on its own motto, vision and mission. Active Alumni members are grouped accordingly to their potential. Every committee will nominate a leader. 2 Advisors will be allocated to each committee

Brief Description of the committees:

Logistics

Advisors: Kexin and Endure

Logistics committee will be working with the Programmes committee should there be any event. It includes execution, using Standard Operation Procedure to run any event. This requires discipline and time-management.

Programmes

Advisors: Albert and Liwen

Programme committee mainly plan activities such as Graduation Day Camp, Alumni Registration etc. It also includes the deployment of Active Alumni members. This requires creative thinking and precised plannings.

Welfare

Advisors: Jelyn and Shaun

Welfare committee mainly plans special events for the Active Alumni group such as bonding sessions, publicity etc. This committee updates the blog often.

Due to time constraint and celebrations of Christmas, the 6 of us have to meet up to discuss on several details of what Miss Teh had told us after the follow-up programme first before we can make every Active Alumni Group's meeting a fruitful one! 1) Question: How are the alumni-to-be going to sign up as the graduation year is only up till 2008?
Answer: Ask them to go ahead to register as we are able to track their year of graduation with the help of their BC numbers.

2) Question: How are the alumni-to-be going to fill up as 'the current school'?
Answer: He/She may want to leave this column blank and update us next year or once they have gotten their posting result.
